Features:

1. The incubation period after being infected with smallpox virus is approximate 12 days (7 to 17 days). The initial symptoms after being infected include high fever, fatigue, headache and backache. After 2 to 3 days, typical smallpox rashes scatter around face, arms and legs. 

The initial rashes of eruptive stage are red typhus. When it comes to the sixth or seventh day,  papula becomes herpes. Peripheral swelling appears and it is sunken in the middle while it is surrounded with flush. After 8 to 9 days, herpes turn into pustular eruption. Focus of infection starts to fester until it starts to scab in the second week. In the following 3 to 4 weeks, it gradually peels off.Depressed sear will be left if skin damage is comparatively severe.
